fair trade part 2

Fair trade:
The fair trade foundation, based in the uk, was set up to help alleviate poverty among farmers and workers in areas around the world where they do not receive a fair price on the products they produce.
In the areas fair-trade helps the products which are produced are allowed to have the fair-trade label on them.
There are standards which need to be met to be able to have the fair-trade label. They are called sustainable development, social development, economic development and environmental development.

Producers and traders must make sure that standards are met.

Ensuring a fair and stable price is reached.
Investing in projects that enhance social, economic and environmental development.
Emphasising the idea of partnership between traders and producers.
Making sure that trading relationships are mutually beneficial and long-term.

The range of products is also growing.
Composite products, such as clothing can also be labelled fair-trade if they are made from high enough percentage of fair-trade cotton may have non- fair-trade buttons stitching or thread.

part 1

non renewable resources:
Normally designers would use non renewable resources which are like oils ores and minerals and these all come from natural places and will soon run out

Renewable resources:
Is something that makes our natural resources last longer. And a customer can check this by looking for the logo.
the six R's
Reduce: using less natural materials so we can save it.
Refuse: refuse to use extra packaging that we don’t need.
Re-use: instead of throwing things away use them again for different things.
Repair: you might be able to fix a broken item rather then buying a brand new one.
Rethink: think about new ways to buy and dispose of products.
Recycle: reusing and making new things out of it. You can tell if its recycled if there’s the recycle logo.

design

Design Situation
Advertising is a multimillion pound industry. Advertising includes logos, packaging, point of sale displays, websites and television campaigns. International companies from Ford to McDonalds spend millions of pounds each year on advertising. Even smaller companies spend large amounts of their budget on good advertising campaigns.
Design Brief
I am going to redesign the logo for krispy kremes I will also design and make a piece of packaging for one of their products (doughnut box) and design and make a point of sale display for that product.
Initial Specification
My products will have or do the following;
Display the product that is for sale
show the logo on the box
make the logo look more attractive
